Production at Santikos Silverado
Behind the Screens: Faces of Exhibition
Featuring Dan Fonseca - Executive Director of Technical Services
One thing that really stood out to me about this project was watching someone find their on camera confidence in real time. Dan is a very intelligent, well-spoken professional but is also very humble and he was admittedly nervous being on camera. The lights, the crew, the overwhelming amount of focus being put on you can be intimidating. Even the most veteran public speakers can become a deer in headlights once the record light switches on. So we made sure we gave ourselves some extra time to ensure Dan felt comfortable. But we actually wrapped 45 minutes early on his interview because he immediately found his footing and knocked his interview out of the park.
The most integral part of this shoot was scheduling all of the different b-roll locations thoughtfully and responsibly. We filmed all over the building after the interview concluded, and some locations required more time than others due to needing extras on hand to act as patrons. But we were able to anticipate the needs of the production accordingly and the shooting day moved forward smoothly. Everyone really had a great time filming this one, especially the b-roll. I mean, how can anyone have a bad day filming in an arcade/bowling alley/movie theater?
